Angel Investing

I irregularly angel invest small checks ($2500-$5000) of my own money in early-stage startups I'm excited about.

I can help with:
  • Hiring — help create processes and structure so that the startup can hire great design talent. I've written job descriptions, reviewed portfolios, helped structure a design interview loop, and helped founders clarify what kind of designer they actually need.
  • Recruiting — get great designers in the door to join the startup.
  • Critique — getting into the weeds to look at upcoming features or product ideas and critiquing everything from the strategy down to the pixels.
  • Be a user — using the company's products is one the most underrated ways to be helpful.
  • Mentorship — coaching early designer hires. Being a solo designer is crazy hard, and I am happy to help with mentorship, critique, or other design input on their work.

What I invest in
I invest if I think I can provide value to you, whether through advice, audience, network, credibility or anything else. If I can't help you at all, it probably doesn't make sense for you to take my money.

I love investing in products that I (would) use myself, even more so if they're products in fintech or edtech.

I love investing early to make the most of the limited amount of money I have. The earlier, the better.

If you're founding a startup and think this could be a good fit I'd love to meet you. Send me an email and let's chat!
